Futon Making at Iwata | Video
We wanted to share this beautiful video from the Iwata studio as we draw nearer to our upcoming exhibition of Iwata and their new line, Nezen.
Iwata began as a futon maker in Kyoto in 1830 and continues to produce futons and bedding using natural materials chosen for how they breathe, regulate, and wear over time. Nezen is a newer line from Iwata, focused on unbleached materials and a more stripped-back approach, where fewer layers and finishes allow the body to settle more naturally.
As we prepare for the exhibition, we wanted to share this video from Iwata. It offers a clear look into their process, materials and way of thinking.
