My Paper Bag: Before and After

When I first met my SIWA paper bag, I must admit, I was a little skeptical. Especially since I commute from my apartment to my studio carrying my laptop, sketchbook, iPad and SLR camera with me everyday, and that all this needs to be held in something durable. Also, in a world of fashionable designer ‘it’ bags, usually made of genuine leather, I wasn’t sure if I’d be able to style this new ‘paper’ bag with my existing wardrobe.  But, I figured I’d give it a go and test out SIWA’s claim to have created ‘a bag from paper that cannot be ripped”.

To my surprise, after about six months of using my bag, I’ve grown to love it in so many ways! Designed in collaboration with Naoto Fukusawa with Naoron paper, it’s innovative, eco-friendly and extremely light. It has all the elements a carryall bag needs with the added bit of true originality. The creases in the bag only add to its cool weathered look… it’s the perfect example of wearable ‘wabi sabi’. And true to the word, it has not ripped once.
